About ILUS
The IOER launched the International Land Use Symposium (ILUS) in 2015. We aim to host the event every 4 years in Dresden and in the meantime with international co-organizers. The biennial International Land Use Symposium (ILUS) brings together leading academics in the fields of GIScience and spatial planning. Objective of the interdisciplinary conference is to advance the understanding of built-up areas and to develop new ideas for the sustainable use of the precious resource soil. ILUS brings together leading academics and interested attendees for presentation, discussion, and collaborative networking in the fields of spatial sciences, environmental studies, geography, cartography, GIScience, urban planning, architecture, which relate to investigations of settlements and infrastructure.
In 2019 the symposium is organized by German and French research structures, which are the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional development (IOER, Dresden), the Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire des Energies de Demain (LIED, University of Paris Diderot), the Pôle Image (University of Paris Diderot), and the Institut National de l’Information Géographique et Forestière (IGN, Saint-Mandé).
